One month left to start my Masters in polytechnic of Milan (I had already resigned from my job), I got two separate offers to build gigantic models for fiber glass Molding:
First one was modeling of the roof of an observatory center (a semi-sphere of 12 Meter diameter) and they wanted it to be without any visible gap on the edge of separate slices,
The other project was a crown-shaped piece of fiber glass to be placed on a high-rise building for decoration.
Both projects were enough challenging to tempt me and my friend Hamed Ebrahimian to accept them.
We started to design a structural mesh in order to work gypsum on it and To have a precise sphere, we also designed a specific tool which was composed of a rod (6 meter long) with a scraper knife on the very end of it.
We did not have enough time to document the project but here are some pictures I took with my cell phone.

The client expected such a smooth surface while divided into 8 slices/modules ![]() |

Using a rod of 6 meter length with a special scraper knife at very end of it to make sure that we would have a precise spherical surface. |

Even the Scrapper knife had the same radius of the sphere. |
