Stadium Choreography in Realtime, Stadiugraph

Stadiugraph tifo

You probably have seen it on TV during the important matches between big clubs or probably the last derby in your city and depending on where you live, you may call it Choreography, tifo, card tifo, stunt or mosaic. A choreography is an action where all the fans on the stands, participate and hold up a colorful piece of paper to act as a single pixel of a bigger picture and support their team with a stunning design.

The history of choreography goes back to more than 100 years ago and to my surprise I noticed that except for some special cases, very few things has changed in the way we organize them ever since...

Status Que:

Lets say we as a group of supporters decide to organize a choreography, we first need to come up and settle down with the design. Then we have to adapt and impose that design onto the seating chart of our stadium.
At the end we have a color map which specifies the color of each seat.
We still need lots of volunteers working long hours before the match, to distribute color papers and put them on the right seats based on the provided color map. The complexity of the process makes it a very difficult & time consuming to arrange a good choreography.

Another problem is that current choreographies are mostly limited to one design for every match, so as an ordinary fan, you go to the stadium, you find a color card on your seat. The leader askes everyone to raise their colors and the design appears on the stands.
2 minutes later... you would throw your card away and start watching your match.
Despite all the work and expenses for ultras and fanclubs, The action is quite brief, and limited to one design.
Moreover, all the burden of the job is on shoulders of Ultras and those passionate fans who are available to volunteer for long hours, days before the match.

My journey

3 year ago an idea occurred to me that I thought might make it easier to coordinate and organize a choreography. It took me few months to shape the concept and another few months to find a partner to work on it as a team.

It has been almost 2 years since we started to work seriously and I am glad that we finally have the product ready. We call it Stadiugraph, and it is mobile app that enables all the fans to collaborate & perform a highly detailed tifo within minutes after it has been designed in a crowd-souring process & approved by fanclub leaders.

How?

Unlike conventional pre-composed choreos, in our system the fans would find 2 or more colors on their seat and through the app, they get instant instructions of when to perform the action and which color to raise.

The whole process could be done in few minutes which makes it even possible to  react instantly to the important happenings on the field... the team scores a goal? you can brag about it with a giant text message, you concede a goal? you can encourage the team to fight back. You can be funny or critical, and as a fan-group you can create your own identity using the choreography as a new and powerful medium to express yourself collectively.

If you are from a fanclub or ultras group and want to try our tool? Please feel free to connect with me or write us here and tell us a little bit about your group.
