Recumbent bikes have always been depicted as an ultimate human powered vehicle and they have more reputation for speed and performance rather than utility and urban use. No wonder if we don’t see recumbent bikes or trikes so often in the cities. Although the recumbent bicycle was invented before the
turn of the century, but like many other alternative bike concepts, it has spent its existence in the shadow of
the ‘normal bike,’ which is based on the Rover Safety Bike of 1885.
Recumbents were actively developed up to the late 1930s, and they often put the up-right racing bike
into second place in competition. But after achieving its best results, the recumbent was banned from
further competition by the UCI (the international bike sport association), and not coincidentally declined in
popularity. Soon the recumbent disappeared from the world of cycling.
Today, the situation is about to change. Apart from a small number of racing enthusiasts, it is mainly tourists who enjoy the advantages of these bicycles. The beneficial aerodynamics, design diversity, safety and highly adjustable, comfortable position make the recumbent an ideal vehicle for a wide variety of distances, uses, speeds and rider types. However, adapting recumbent bikes for urban utility is a difficult task since these bikes are inherently designed for performance and not the everyday use, hence it is indispensable to conduct a thorough study of the urban needs and requirements to develop a vehicle which
corresponds to the user needs.
An everyday cyclist requires a bike that offers better style, maneuverability,  stability, visibility, comfort, cargo capacity and much more requirements which I have tried to respond to them in this rear wheel steering tadpole trike.

Another new feature is also retractable shopping cart which is fixed on the rear axle by a pair of knob screws.
The rider consequently could detach the basket and use it as a shopping cart for grocery stores.
